HACCP and Food Safety Services for Caribbean Businesses

What is HACCP?

“HACCP is a management system in which food safety is addressed through the analysis and control of biological, chemical, and physical hazards from raw material production, procurement and handling, to manufacturing, distribution and consumption of the finished product.”

– FDA U.S. Food & Drug Administration

Do I need HACCP?

Maintaining excellent food safety standards is a mandatory requirement for all food businesses. This includes any businesses involved with the manufacturing, distribution, retail and catering of food.

International and regional legislation dictates that food businesses should implement a HACCP-based Food Safety Management System (FSMS). This is a system that helps food business operators look at how they handle food, and introduces procedures to make sure the food they handle is safe to eat.

Why do I need it?

If food safety standards are not met, the consequences in cost and reputation can be catastrophic. Alongside requirements to meet international and regional legislation, retailers, tour operators and customers often demand industry best-practice in food safety.

“The program was very comprehensive, with a range of learning outcomes… It was delivered in a well-paced, interesting and engaging way, resulting in a 100% pass rate and even a couple of distinctions.

I recommend Springboard without reservation to other businesses in the industry, particularly those who are looking to compete on a regional or global scale… These standards are presently priority and a MUST HAVE in a food safety setting.”
